BackOps is hiring an Engineering Manager for Infrastructure and Security in San Francisco. Hybrid, full-time role leading a hands-on team responsible for multi-cloud/on-prem deployments, reliability, and SOC 2 controls. You will drive security posture, IAM, secrets management, and CI/CD guardrails while keeping a sustainable pace.

You will shape the security culture, mentor engineers, and partner with executives to translate risk into concrete roadmap decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing engineers with hands-on infra or security background.
• Deep cloud-native expertise: AWS and/or GCP, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD.
• Strong security engineering background: IAM, least-privilege, secrets, vulnerabilities.
• Proven ability to translate vague mandates into measurable deliverables.
• Experience coordinating with teams you don’t own and aligning stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing infrastructure and security team.
• Own our multi-cloud and on-prem deployment, reliability, SLOs, and networking.
• Own security posture: identity, least privilege, secrets, vulnerabilities, SOC 2.
• Integrate security into engineering practices; build CI/CD guardrails.
• Set clear definitions of done: tested code, observability, runbooks.
• Plan work with outcomes and risk-driven decisions; maintain sustainable pace.
• Translate risk visuals into actions for leadership and customers.
