Job summary

The City of Newton is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of capital and infrastructure projects within the Department of Public Works. From programming and design to procurement, construction and closeout, you will coordinate with departments, consultants, contractors and the public to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery and compliance with standards.

You will translate complex technical information for non‑technical stakeholders and provide regular status

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 5–10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering project management.
PE license strongly preferred; valid driver’s license required.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage capital projects through all phases: planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and cost controls.
Coordinate design efforts with in‑house staff and external consultants.
Prepare cost estimates, bid documents and technical specifications.
Provide construction management oversight and supervision of inspectors and resident engineers.
Monitor risks, respond to issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
