Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior DevOps/Build Engineer to lead CI/CD, build tooling, and cloud infrastructure for spacecraft-grade software stacks. You will own and optimize multi-team pipelines, packaging, and release workflows across firmware, ground systems, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software/CE or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering in DevOps, build/release, or cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and operation of CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and cloud infrastructure for the VNS and GNC software stacks.
• Build unified packaging and release management for firmware, spacecraft software, ground systems, and cloud services.
• Create test and release workflows for multiple teams to ensure high test coverage and reproducibility.

• Design, review, and maintain cloud infrastructure focusing on reliability, security, and cost.
• Establish developer workflows, automation, and documentation to improve reliability and velocity.
• Partner with perception, GNC, avionics, flight software, systems engineering, and mission operations teams.
• Diagnose complex build, deployment, and infrastructure issues; contribute to architectural decisions and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience in DevOps, build/release engineering, and/or cloud infrastructure roles
• Experience managing builds and deployment environments with high test coverage and build reproducibility
• Strong experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and release management for multi-team codebases
• Experience designing, deploying, and reviewing cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), including infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
• Experience developing and debugging in Linux environments; strong scripting and automation skills in Python or similar languages
• Experience dealing with large versioned data assets and the pipelines that process them
• Strong understanding of software architecture, automated testing, and maintainable software design
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex system-level issues and communicate effectively across software, algorithm, hardware, and systems engineering teams
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence in the U.S., protected individual status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations
• Desired: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Desired: Experience supporting DevOps for embedded or firmware targets, including cross-compilation and hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
