Job description

The Infrastructure Engineer is a hands-on technical role supporting cloud services, Microsoft 365 environment, enterprise networking, SaaS platforms, and infrastructure systems. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, and improvement of the organization's hybrid technology environment, and contributes to modernization projects under the direction of senior engineering staff.

The ideal candidate is comfortable across modern cloud and SaaS technologies while holding strong networking and systems fundamentals. They can take a defined task or issue and see it through to completion independently, know when to ask questions versus when to dig in, and are motivated to grow their technical depth over time.

The ideal candidate can work directly with departments across the bank – partnering on projects, translating technical work into terms business stakeholders understand, and building the kind of working relationships that make cross-department initiatives succeed.

We're looking for someone who sees themselves not just as an individual contributor to IT, but as a collaborator the rest of the organization trusts and wants to work with. Clear communication, follow-through on commitments, and an ownership mindset are as core to this role as the technical work itself.

  • Administer and support cloud-based infrastructure and SaaS platforms.
  • Assist with deployment, maintenance, and optimization of AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Participate in cloud migration and modernization initiatives alongside senior staff.
  • Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability, and follow up on what monitoring surfaces.

Microsoft 365 & Identity

  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID.
  • Support identity and access management in a hybrid environment, including Active Directory, conditional access, and endpoint compliance.
  • Troubleshoot email, collaboration, authentication, and device management issues through to resolution.
  • Support and maintain LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, firewall, and internet connectivity across corporate, branch, and colocation environments.
  • Perform structured network troubleshooting and elevate with clear documentation of what was tested and found.
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure projects.

SaaS Administration

  • Administer business-critical SaaS applications: user provisioning, licensing, integrations, and access controls.
  • Work directly with vendors to resolve technical issues rather than handing them off.
  • Maintain inventory and documentation of cloud and SaaS platforms.

Automation & Operations

  • Experience scripting and automating day-to-day tasks highly preferred.
  • Assist with infrastructure monitoring, alerting, reporting, and lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to standardization and keeping technical documentation current.

Security & Compliance

  • Support implementation of security controls, vulnerability remediation, and access management.
  • Participate in audit preparation, compliance activities, and incident response.
  • Follow established security and risk management practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–6 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
  • Solid networking fundamentals: switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless, with real troubleshooting experience.
  • Hands-on exposure to AWS or Azure — comfort navigating, deploying, and supporting cloud resources.
  • Experience with identity management technologies.
  • Scripting familiarity with PowerShell or another language.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the discipline to document findings.

Preferred

  • AWS, Azure, Microsoft, Cisco, or Fortinet certifications.
  • Experience with Intune and endpoint management in a hybrid-joined environment.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.

Desired Attributes

  • Follows work through to completion — owns a task or ticket from intake to resolution without it needing to be re-assigned or rescued.
  • Works independently on defined tasks; asks good questions early rather than stalling or guessing.
  • Communicates comfortably with non-technical staff and treats the rest of the business as customers.
  • Balances operational support and ticket work with project contributions.
  • Quick to learn unfamiliar platforms and genuinely curious about how things work.
  • Receptive to direction and feedback, with the ambition to take on greater ownership over time.
