Dev Technology Group is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to support both Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and new development efforts for a federal government client. The ideal candidate will have relevant architecture experience, strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset. This is a great opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that provide clear value to end users and our federal government clients.

Summary

The Infrastructure Architect will have overall responsibility for planning, designing, assembling, and overseeing program systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing existing cloud resources, determining any changes that may be needed to improve system performance, and making recommendations.
  • Providing guidance to engineers and developers on the team based on best practices to ensure the infrastructure continues to support fluctuating demands.
  • Working with the government IT operations and other teams to develop strategies and action plans for implementing upgrades and integrations to program applications.
  • Periodic on‑call support, shared across engineering team members
  • Maintain and enforce logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and agile metrics.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment OR No Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment.
  • Proficiency designing and implementing Cloud-based AWS solutions.
  • Ability to analyze AWS cloud services to identify defects to correct or suggest improvements to optimize.
  • Experience managing AWS resources in FedRamp Approved GovCloud.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical, executive-level government officials.
  • Ability to problem-solve and develop solutions to complex business needs.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • DevSecOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g. JIRA), automated testing, and automated deployments (CI/CD pipelines).
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration.
  • Applying The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile solution designs to minimize technical debt and improve overall velocity.
  • Writing/maintaining Infrastructure as Code with languages such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Designing logical and network diagrams.
  • Outlining evaluation benchmarks for system performance assessments.
  • Implementing technical architecture standards based on industry best practices.
  • Engaging stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating those needs into a minimum viable product.
  • Providing advice to project teams around technical solutions, best practices, and efficiencies.
  • Providing leadership for strategic planning or complex problem solving for programs and projects including the creation, maintenance, and governance of roadmaps.
  • Performing functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships.
  • Documenting performance criteria and testing strategies, quantifying results, trade‑offs and recommendations using a data‑driven approach to support conclusions.
  • Reviewing design documents to ensure that they follow the industry and Government standards.
  • Presenting architecture design documents to the client and revising based on client feedback to obtain client approval.
  • Maintaining awareness and expertise of the latest cloud and infrastructure, orchestration, and automation visualization technologies to proactively support the adoption of beneficial new capabilities.
  • Interacting and collaborating with specialists to successfully migrate applications and data to the cloud.
  • Driving innovation and improving performance of the applications in scope.
  • Providing recommendations and implementing ways to modernize technology to meet business demands in a cost‑effective manner.
