Job summary

Flexcompute, a Boston-area startup, seeks a Software Engineer to design and maintain the Tidy3D platform backend. You will build the control plane, APIs, and data models for task submission, job state, and result delivery, while ensuring scalable scheduling across GPU resources.

You will also manage authentication, authorization, metering, and quota controls, and drive the release pipeline from packaging to deployment across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and operating production cloud services.
• Strong Python skills for backend services.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as code in production, ideally Terraform.
• Linux fluency and comfort operating in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for the Tidy3D platform.
• Develop and operate the control plane: APIs, services, and data model for task submission, job state, and result delivery.
• Build scheduling and resource management for simulation jobs across heterogeneous GPU capacity.
• Handle authentication, authorization, usage metering, and quota enforcement in a multi-tenant product.
• Manage packaging and release to PyPI; ensure compatibility across client and backend versions; own the end-to-end release pipeline.
• Standardize deployment patterns for cloud, customer-owned cloud, and on-prem installations.
• Instrument the platform, monitor health, respond to incidents, and manage cloud costs as usage grows.
