Job summary

The City of Gahanna is seeking an experienced Information Technology Support Specialist II to provide advanced desktop, infrastructure, and systems support for city services. You will act as a key technical resource for citywide technology initiatives and work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Responsibilities include tier 2 support, project work, inventory maintenance, and enterprise application management.

Qualifications

• Three (3)+ years of information technology or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, or related field.
• Public Safety experience preferred.

Job description

Are you an experienced IT professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and supporting critical public services? The City of Gahanna is seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Support Specialist II to provide advanced desktop, infrastructure, and systems support while serving as a key technical resource for citywide technology initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with proven technical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the confidence to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Starting Salary Range

The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($25.50 hourly - $31.24 hourly). Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

Essential Job Functions

• Monitors and responds to Help Desk inquiries and support tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provides tier 2 support to end users in a desktop, server, and infrastructure environment. Responds to requests in a timely manner, which may require providing service outside of regular business hours.??
• Acts as project technical specialist on information technology projects.
• Maintains accurate inventory of computer devices and other hardware.?
• Maintains phone system end devices and associated wiring; troubleshoot problems and make changes as needed.? Install new cabling, replace cabling, terminate, and test cabling.?
• Assists with training classes as necessary to support existing and emerging technologies.
• Configure, manage, maintain, and report metrics for enterprise applications related to:
  • Enterprise imaging system for PC deployment (Windows Deployment Toolkit - MDT)
  • Mobile device management system for mobile devices (Jamf)
  • Enterprise anti-virus, anti-malware systems, and Multi-Factor Authentication (Watchguard EPDR and Authpoint)
  • Enterprise software deployment package (PDQ & PowerShell)
• Evaluate, research, recommend, purchase, setup and test equipment, supplies, hardware, and software.??
• Works collaboratively with the Systems Administrator on configuration change management and maintenance of system images. Develops work flows for system images and installation.?
• Creates and maintains documentation of processes and procedures.
• Assists Systems Administrator and Network Administrator with tasks as necessary.?

Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A typical way to qualify is: three (3) or more years of information technology or related experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, or a related field. Experience with Public Safety is preferred.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

• Acquire and maintain LEADS and NCIC certification within six (6) months of hire.?
• Successfully complete OSSI CAD/RMS and Mobile Computer Terminal System Administrator training within two (2) years of hire.?
• Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.?
