Job summary

The City of Wyoming, Michigan is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to support City systems, with emphasis on Public Safety staff and departments. You will troubleshoot, install, and configure hardware/software, manage help desk tickets, and coordinate with IT staff and vendors to provide effective solutions.

  • Strong computer literacy and troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience with application installation and support.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supporting Public Safety technologies, such as in-vehicle/mobile systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

The City of Wyoming is seeking a motivated Information Technology Specialist to join the IT Department, with a primary focus on supporting our Public Safety operations. In this role you will have the opportunity to make a real impact by strengthening our Service Desk capabilities, solving problems, and ensuring Police, Fire, and other Public Safety staff have the tools and systems they need to protect and serve our community.

About the Role
As an Information Technology Specialist, you will support city systems, assist staff with hardware and software needs, and ensure a seamless end-user experience, with an emphasis on the departments and systems that keep our community safe. Over time, you will build an in-depth understanding of the technology used by our Police, Fire, and Court departments. You will be the key point of contact for troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and coordinating with IT staff and vendors to provide effective solutions. You will also help these departments adopt new technology and work more efficiently.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Preferred Certifications

  • Candidates holding one or more certifications are preferred, such as:
  • CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+, Project+
  • Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Administrator
  • Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate

The Information Technology Specialist I wage range is $29.37 - $36.25 per hour. The Information Technology Specialist II wage range is $31.96 – $39.16 per hour. Placement into the I or II level and associated wages are dependent on qualifications and experience. Employees are eligible for a pay increase following the end of the probationary period.
