LaStellar Group in NYC is seeking a hands-on IT Manager / Systems Administrator to lead a small desktop team and perform senior systems work daily. You will be the top technical escalation point while guiding server, AD, M365 and security tasks in a 85% Windows and 15% Linux environment supporting ~170 users.

100% onsite in NYC with travel to CT and Westchester DR site as needed. US citizens only; occasional after-hours patching and recovery testing required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience.
• Deep Windows Server, AD, M365 and MFA knowledge.
• Experience with service accounts, Entra app registrations, and credential management.
• VMware vSphere experience.
• Secure email gateway such as Proofpoint or Mimecast.
• Endpoint and data-governance tools like CrowdStrike or Varonis.
• Strong PowerShell
• Experience with IT controls in regulated/audited settings.
• Experience leading projects with MSPs and vendors.

Responsabilités

• Design and manage Active Directory and Entra ID architecture.
• Oversee M365/Exchange Online mail routing, DLP, retention, Teams, SharePoint.
• Manage VMware vSphere and Windows Server estate; rack/maintenance of physical servers.
• Maintain Windows and Samba file servers; permissions, quotas, migrations.
• Manage networking and firewalls; DNS, DHCP, VLANs, certificates.
• Implement security controls: MFA, conditional access, phishing simulations.
• Lead IT controls in audited environment: access reviews, change mgmt.
• Handle eDiscovery and legal holds with Legal/Compliance.
• Support Avaya PBX and move to outsourced voice.
• Vendor management (M365, Adobe, Bloomberg, etc.).
• PowerShell and Python automation.
• Mentor desktop support team; escalation point.

$23B Hedge Fund | NYC with travel to CT | 100% Onsite, 5 Days

$200–250K base | $325–350K total comp | US Citizens Only

A long-tenured IT leader is retiring, and this firm needs a hands-on player-coach to step in. It is not a people-manager seat. You'll still do the senior systems work every day while leading and mentoring a small desktop support team. The environment is about 85% Windows and 15% Linux, supporting roughly 170 people.

What you own

• Active Directory and Entra ID: group design, service accounts, SPNs, app registrations, Graph API access and credential rotation
• Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online: mail routing, mail security, DLP, retention, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
• VMware vSphere and the Windows Server estate, plus physical servers (racking, cabling, diagnostics, part swaps)
• Windows and Samba file servers: permissions, quotas, capacity and migrations
• Networking and firewalls: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless, certificates and monitoring
• Security: endpoint protection, MFA, conditional access, phishing simulations and alert response
• IT controls in an audited environment: monthly access reviews, change management, exceptions and DDQ support
• eDiscovery and legal hold searches with Legal and Compliance
• Avaya PBX support and the move to an outsourced voice provider
• Licensing, renewals and vendor management (M365, Adobe, Box, Bloomberg, Verizon and more)
• Server room power and cooling: UPS, PDUs, HVAC and coordination with building vendors
• PowerShell and Python automation
• Leading and mentoring the desktop support team and serving as the top technical escalation point

What you bring

• 7+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience
