Job summary

NYS Office of Information Technology Services is seeking an Information Technology Architect 2 to design and oversee the implementation of technical solutions within the Gaming and Public Integrity sector. This role provides senior technical leadership and guides teams through project lifecycles to delivery.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, selecting software and platforms, and ensuring alignment with architecture standards and security requirements across State agencies.

Qualifications

• Seven years of information technology experience, five years in the specialty.
• Substitutions: various degree credits may substitute for experience.
• Specialty includes IT architecture in AI, cloud, data, enterprise, security and more.

The duties of this Information Technology Architect 2 position include, but are not limited to:

• Reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner for Technology, designs and oversees the implementation of technical solutions within several major program areas within the Gaming and Public Integrity (GPI) sector.
• Provides senior technical leadership and guidance to teams throughout all GPI project and initiative lifecycles.
• Plans, tracks, and assists in scheduling identified deliverables.
• Makes decisions regarding selection and utilization of software and platforms.
• Develops and implements integration standards and strategies.
• Locates and directs solutions to challenges involving hardware and software interfaces.
• Identifies and resolves issues within identified technical solutions.
• Develops applications and programs for State agencies.
• Designs end-to-end technical solutions that address business requirements and align with architecture principals and standards.
• Engages with stakeholders to communicate technical solutions, gather feedback and address concerns.
• Works closely with user experience, business analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment.
• Optimizes applications to ensure they meet the needs of the program area and the needs of the State.
• Documents and records all aspects of applications or software.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, architect solutions and ensure successful delivery at the end of the project lifecycle.
• Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation strategies.
• Collaborates with development teams to ensure that technical solutions are implemented according to design specifications.
• Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and solution quality.
• Ensures that solutions adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with IT security to secure data and address issues.
• Evaluates new and emerging technologies for inclusion in the State catalog.
  

QualificationsNon-competitive: Seven years* of information technology experience, five years of
which must be in the appropriate specialty**.

• Substitutions: Associate’s degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or
  

related field substitutes for one year of general
information technology experience.
Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field can substitute such credits for one year of general
information technology experience.
Bachelor’s degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in
computer science or related field substitutes for three years of general
information technology experience.
Any bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years of general
information technology experience.
Master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of
general information technology experience.

• Specialty includes experience as an IT architect in one or more of the following:
  

artificial intelligence; cloud; data; enterprise; business; solution; networking; operations
management; product management; application development, security and operations;
service-oriented management; infrastructure; information technology engineering;
