Information Security Engineer (Contract)

Position: Information Security Engineer
- Location: Remote
- Duration: One year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, executing, and tracking the performance of security measures to protect information, network infrastructure, and computer systems.
- Ensure full compliance with all Credit Union policies, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC Policies.
- Design computer security strategies and engineer comprehensive cybersecurity architecture.
- Identify, define, and document system security requirements; recommend solutions to management.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
- Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
- Monitor systems for irregular behavior and implement preventive measures.
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and updating the credit union’s information security strategy.
- Educate and train staff on information security best practices.
- Design and test remediation strategies with the IT Infrastructure team.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Security Management or related field, with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications.
Recommended Certifications:
- Cisco: CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
- Security: GSEC, GCIH, GPEN
- CompTIA: Network+ and/or Security+
Skills:
- Deep understanding of operating system and network security best practices.
- Strong knowledge of network and security protocols.
- Understanding of network infrastructure and hardware.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies using documentation and online resources.
- Knowledge of Red Team and Blue Team security operations.
- Understanding of Information Security Frameworks.
- Working knowledge of incident response handling.

- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Potential requirement to complete a background check as a contractor.
