Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago’s Malcolm X College IT Programs seeks an IT Service Associate to support computer hardware and software used by students, administrators, faculty and staff in a variety of settings to enhance student success.

The role covers hands-on and remote support, software maintenance, equipment asset management, and event tech facilitation, with after-hours/on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Processing or related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a college setting.
• Minimum of two years of related work experience.
• Knowledge and experience with supporting both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
• Knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Windows and browsers, including networking concepts and troubleshooting skills.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills.
• Great team player and self-starter.

Responsibilities

• Provides computer hardware and software technical support in person and remotely to students, administrators, faculty and staff.
• Maintains, installs and tests software applications on computer hardware.
• Submits help desk tickets to assist with technology issues.
• Protects equipment through refresh, maintenance, installation, configuration, and asset inventory management.
• Manages and tracks equipment designated for use by students, staff, and faculty.
• Facilitates use of equipment for internal and external events.
• Assembles and disassembles equipment on site before and after classes.
• Provides limited training to audiovisual/multimedia equipment users.
• Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
• Performs other duties including after-hours and on-call schedules.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The basic function of this position is tosupport the computer hardware and software used by students,administrators, faculty and staff in a variety of academic settingsand to achieve student success.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides computer hardware and software technical support bothin person and remote technical support to students, administrators,faculty and staff.
2. Maintains, installs and tests software applications on computerhardware throughout the college.
3. Submits help desk tickets to assist students, administrators,faculty and staff with technology related issues
4. Protects physical technology assets in public areas and othersettings, through ongoing equipment refresh, planning maintenance,installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and asset inventorymanagement.
5. Manages, tracks, and protects equipment that is designated foruse by students, administrators, faculty and staff.
6. Facilitates use of equipment for various internal and externalevents.
7. Assembles and disassembles equipment on site before and afterclasses.

10. Performs other duties as assigned, including, but not limitedto, adherence to after hours, emergency, holiday and/or on-callschedule.

2. Minimum of two years of related work experience.
3. Knowledge and experience with supporting both Windows andMacintosh platforms.
4. Knowledge of all current versions of Microsoft Windows (XP,Windows 7), all current internet browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari)including networking concepts and general technical troubleshootingskills.
5. Sound verbal and written communication skills.
6. Great team player and self-starter.

Salary: $69,545- $76,772

1600 Union position

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.
