Job summary

Sandhills Community College is seeking an IT Support role to provide technical assistance to faculty, staff and campus computer labs. You will help students during drop-in hours and answer the help desk phone line, while repairing and maintaining computers and peripherals.

The position requires knowledge of PCs, software, and web technologies, with strong troubleshooting and organizational skills. An associate degree in IT or related field is preferred, with IT certifications encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Be seeking or have an associate degree in an information technology related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substantial knowledge of personal computers, strong troubleshooting skills and related work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of web technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • The ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with faculty, staff and students.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to faculty and staff as well as support of campus computer labs.
  • Assist in answering student IT questions during drop-in hours and in answering the student help desk phone line.

  • Supports, installs, and upgrades hardware.
  • Supports, installs and upgrades software using various installation media and network deployment tools used for imaging, remote management, and install packages.
  • Maintains the annual Preventative Maintenance Plan for PCs/printers and performs annual preventative maintenance, cleanings, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Assists with implementation and upgrading images.
  • Assists with maintenance and management of PCs, Laptops and other computing devices.
  • Identify and remove malware from campus computers.
  • Assist in helping students with IT questions during drop-in hours and in answering the student help desk line
