Job summary

Wellstar Health System in the United States seeks an Infection Preventionist I to support hospital surveillance and infection-prevention initiatives across facilities. You will identify infection risks, participate in programs, and educate clinical teams on preventing healthcare-associated infections.

You will apply NHSN definitions, collect and analyze data, and help ensure compliance with regulatory standards while collaborating with the IP leadership team to strengthen patient safety and care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health or Master's in Public Health preferred.
• CIC certification preferred or required upon hire where stated.
• Minimum 2 years in a healthcare setting; 1 year in infection prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveillance for healthcare infections using NHSN definitions.
• Perform data collection, aggregation and NHSN validation.
• Educate staff on infection prevention practices and hand hygiene compliance.
• Assist in risk assessments and surveillance planning with IP team.
• Collaborate with Infection Prevention Manager to implement policies and procedures.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and report to authorities as required.
