Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking an Infection Preventionist IP I to join our team. The role reports to the Infection Prevention Manager and focuses on surveillance, data collection, reporting, and education to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

You will implement NHSN standards, collaborate with hospital teams, and participate in risk assessments and quality initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Excellent teamwork and relationship building.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of epidemiology, surveillance, data collection and analysis.
• Personal time management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Surveillance for healthcare-associated infections per Infection Prevention Plan.
• Apply NHSN definitions consistently and collect, analyze data.
• Enter data into NHSN and perform validation and reporting.
• Report diseases to local/state public health authorities as required by law.
• Provide staff education on infection prevention practices and orientations.
