Job summary

VMP Healthcare & Community Living in West Allis, WI, seeks an experienced Infection Preventionist (RN) to lead our Infection Prevention and Control Program in a skilled nursing facility.

You will monitor infection trends, educate staff, and ensure CMS, CDC, OSHA, and state regulations are met while supporting a safe environment for residents, visitors, and team members.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Wisconsin.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or infection prevention.
• Knowledge of CDC guidelines, CMS regulations, and infection prevention best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Conduct surveillance, tracking, trending, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections.
• Investigate outbreaks and implement appropriate control measures.
• Monitor compliance with infection prevention policies including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and PPE use.
• Educate and train staff on infection prevention practices and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, State and Local regulations.
• Prepare reports for QAPI meetings.
• Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections.
• Participation in on-call rotation.

What You'll Do

This role is responsible for monitoring infection trends, ensuring regulatory compliance, educating staff, and promoting a safe environment for residents, visitors and employees. Key responsibilities include:

• Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program
• Conduct surveillance, tracking, trending, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections
• Investigate outbreaks and implement appropriate control measures
• Monitor compliance with infection prevention policies including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Educate and train staff on infection prevention practices and regulatory requirements
• Ensure compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, State and Local regulations
• Prepare reports for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings
• Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections
• Participation in on-call rotation

What We're Looking For

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Wisconsin
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or infection prevention
• Knowledge of CDC guidelines, CMS regulations, and infection prevention best practices
• CPR/BLS Certification Required
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Experience with surveillance, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives preferred
• Infection Prevention Certification (CIC), or willingness to obtain, is preferred
