Job summary

Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center is seeking a knowledgeable RN Infection Preventionist to lead the facility's infection prevention and control program. The role involves surveillance, policy development, education, and ensuring alignment with CDC, CMS, and CT standards to protect patients, staff, and visitors.

You will conduct audits, participate in QAPI, and report trends to leadership while maintaining accurate documentation. CT licensure and LTC experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CT RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Knowledge of infection prevention standards specific to long-term care (CDC, CMS, CT regulations).
• Strong organizational, communication, and staff education skills.
• Ability to conduct audits, analyze data, and implement improvement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Conduct ongoing surveillance for infections and communicable diseases.
• Lead outbreak investigations and implement containment strategies.
• Educate nursing staff, CNAs, and ancillary departments on infection prevention practices.
• Ensure compliance with CMS and CT-DPH requirements and antibiotic stewardship.
