Job summary

Ingram Marine Group is seeking deckhands to support inland waterway operations and towing services. You may be assigned to various river segments or vessel types and must provide your own transport to hitch locations.

Responsibilities include deck maintenance, rigging, safety drills, and assisting engineers. A valid TWIC card is required, and post-offer processing will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Read and write English to comply with USCG requirements.
• Able to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet.
• Able to work away from home for extended hitches (14, 21 or 28 day hitches).
• Pass a post-offer process (background check, drug screen, physical).
• Must obtain a valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).

Responsibilities

• Assisting deck crew in tow building (laying wires, tighten ratchets, sweep and shovel barges).
• Daily vessel housekeeping (sweeping, mopping and cleaning crew living quarters).
• Assisting with locking.
• Carrying rigging (ratchets, wires and straps) pumps, hoses and lines.
• Working outdoors for extended periods in heat/cold and rain/snow.
• Checking barges for water and leaks; climbing into confined spaces.
• Upkeep of vessel appearance (washing, chipping and painting).
• Assisting the Engineer as requested.
• Participating in safety drills and audits.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

You may be assigned to any river segment or vessel type based upon Company needs at time of your hire. As an Ingram associate, you will be reliable for your own transportation to and from your hitches.

• Upkeep of vessel appearance includes sooging (washing), chipping and painting
• Assisting the Engineer as requested
• Practicing safe crew, vessel and tow operation using Ingram safety systems
• Participating in safety drills and audits
• Performing other related duties as assigned or requested

• Must obtain a valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). We do not accept receipts from renewals, first time applicants only.
• Pass a post-offer process if an offer is made (background check, drug screen, physical)
• Be able to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
• Be able to work in confined spaces often entered through a manhole
• Be able to climb a ladder and able to board and ride in a skiff
• Drivers License Preferred
