About Miami Correctional Facility:
As part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Miami Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and professionalism. The Miami Correctional Facility is a maximum security facility for adult males, located in Bunker Hill, on the southeast corner of the Grissom Aeroplex, just south of Peru, Indiana, in Miami County. It offers various work and educational programs, including a Braille translation program and a sewing shop supplying items to partner organizations.

Role Overview:

As the Industry Operations Manager, you will serve at the senior administrative level within Indiana Correctional Industries (ICI). Your responsibilities include overseeing administrative, technical, supervisory roles, and industry manufacturing operations across multiple correctional institutions in Indiana, supporting Miami Correctional Facility.


Salary Statement:

The starting salary for this position is $67,314.00, which may be adjusted based on education and experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions include:

  • Planning and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies to optimize performance and achieve goals.
  • Establishing and monitoring controls and feedback systems for operations.
  • Directing corrective measures in shop productivity, shipping, quality, and material usage.
  • Evaluating operational efficiency and implementing improvements.
  • Monitoring expenditures and analyzing fiscal status.
  • Assisting in budget preparation, including staffing, equipment, and capacity planning.
  • Providing leadership and oversight of operations, projects, safety, and environmental management.
  • Developing programs to improve manufacturing, warehousing, quality control, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Offering operational advice on plant performance, production schedules, and quality management.
  • Analyzing workforce utilization and operational data for efficiency.
  • Reviewing production and delivery schedules.
  • Communicating with various staff and management to address production issues and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Adhering to health and safety practices.
  • Justifying and specifying new or replacement equipment.
  • Encouraging offender participation in re-entry programs.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and training staff, with a focus on professional development.
  • Setting expectations, providing feedback, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Some work may be performed onsite or remotely, depending on operational needs and approvals.

This position is exempt from overtime and may require additional hours beyond 75 per pay period without extra compensation.
