Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. seeks a skilled Steel Estimator to deliver complete takeoffs and accurate cost projections for industrial, modular fabrication, and selective commercial projects.

The role requires strong experience in structural steel and metal drawings, proficiency with Tekla PowerFab, Fabtrol, or Fabsuite, and the ability to coordinate with in-house trades while meeting bid deadlines. Travel may be required for site visits, pre-bid meetings, and vendor coordination, with a focus on

Qualifications

• 2+ years estimating pre-construction experience or equivalent
• 5+ years structural steel/misc metals experience in industrial/commercial
• Familiar with Tekla, Fabtrol, Fabsuite estimating software
• Strong understanding of steel drawings and AWS D1.1/AI SC standards
• Able to coordinate with craftsmen and manage bid takeoffs
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Review all construction documents and bid forms
• Solicit subcontractor/vendor quotes for all scopes
• Distribute plans to subcontractors via ftp/email
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Coordinate scope between in-house trades (Sheet Metal, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Electrical, Steel, Millwrights)
• Take-off all equipment/materials using Tekla PowerFab
• Enter costs into bid summary before bid due date
• Ensure take-off/pricing completeness on self-performed work
• Review subcontractor quotes for plan/spec compliance
• Provide scope to Preconstruction Manager for proposals
• Assist in procurement after award and turnover meetings
