Responsibilities

  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to deliver solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates that include materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and overhead costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies in plans or specifications.
  • Identify potential risks and propose value engineering solutions to optimize cost, schedule, and constructability.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Track and update cost databases and historical project data for future reference and benchmarking.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-award contract negotiations as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, codes, and best practices related to industrial structural steel construction.

Job description

The Industrial Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for industrial projects involving structural steel. This role requires a strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and industry standards to ensure all bids are thorough, precise, and compliant with project requirements. The estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver solutions that meet both budgetary and technical needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of work and required materials.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, connections, and miscellaneous metals.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from material suppliers, subcontractors, and fabricators to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates that include materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and overhead costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies in plans or specifications.
