Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage's Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility seeks an Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator to manage the EPA IPP under the John M. Asplund WPCF permit and supervise inspectors.

You will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal pretreatment requirements, develop and implement permitting and enforcement programs, review permits, and collaborate with regulatory agencies and industrial users to protect public health and the environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with nine (9) years related experience including two (2) years supervisory.
• Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field with seven (7) years related experience including two (2) years supervisory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline with five (5) years related experience including two (2) years supervisory.
• Satisfactory background check (criminal, education, and employment history) at time of hire.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage EPA IPP and supervise pretreatment inspectors under the Asplund WPCF permit.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal pretreatment requirements.
• Develop and implement permitting, QA/QC, enforcement actions, and fee/fine programs.
• Review permit applications and pretreatment reports; stay current with regulations.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies, industrial users, and stakeholders.
