Job Description Summary

The Wastewater Treatment Plant is a division within the Utility Department of the Public Works Group. The Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator reports directly to the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent. The Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator will perform all field sampling events for the IPP and maintain all sampling equipment. Perform inspections of industrial customers, prepare notice of violations, prepare regulatory reports, and maintain the Synexus Pretreatment data base. This positon will also be involved in daily operational discussions including, but not limited to, plant operational control mechanisms (SVI, MLSS, D.T., etc), discharges from industrial customers, effect on the process and treatment of said waste stream. Involvement with operational rounds, process control review, and analytical data review are necessary to understand plant performance for local limit development. When not involved in pretreatment activities, the Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator will also administer the City’s Storm Water Monitoring Program.

Job Dimensions

This position is responsible for performing field sampling for the IPP. This includes operation and maintenance of field sampling equipment, knowledge of sample collection methods, preservatives, and the ability to accurately and completely complete sample chain of custody. Understanding industrial impacts on the POTW are key in this role and the individual will participate in daily operational briefings and shadow operators during rounds of the facility. This position is also responsible to administer the City’s Storm Water Monitoring Program. This position is responsible for performing dry weather screening of known outfalls, holding public education and involvement events, training City staff in good housekeeping practices, archiving inspection reports, and review properties for ERU’s.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ohio EPA Class II Wastewater Reclamation Operator’s License.
• Five (5) years of experience in the wastewater treatment profession.
• Experience with laboratory testing and analytical techniques, including the use of specialized laboratory equipment.
• Experience in the environmental field.
• Associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental health and safety, or a closely related field.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and applying federal, state, and/or local regulations.
