Job summary

Austin Industrial, a leading provider of industrial maintenance and services, seeks an Instrumentation and Control Tech Maintenance to install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC-based control systems and automation equipment at a Phoenix site.

You will diagnose control issues, optimize automation processes, and support safety and reliability across operations. The role requires on-site presence and collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Controls, Electronics, Electrical Technology, Automation, or related field.
• Experience with major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital I/O, instrumentation, motor controls, and automation principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission PLC-based control systems, HMI interfaces, and associated industrial automation equipment.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using ladder logic and other industry-standard methods.
• Design, update, and maintain HMI screens to improve operator functionality and process monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system components, minimizing downtime.
• Maintain, calibrate, and test sensors, transmitters, actuators, motor controls, drives, and VFDs.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving analog/digital I/O, networks, and industrial hardware.
• Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment and control systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations to improve performance and efficiency.
• Assist with automation upgrades and system expansions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
