Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking a PLC Control Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain automated control systems in our industrial facilities. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, and variable frequency drives to keep production running safely and efficiently.

This role demands hands-on electrical knowledge, the ability to read schematics, and collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams to support system upgrades and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in industrial controls or related field.
• Experience with major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation or Siemens.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital I/O, instrumentation, and industrial automation principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission PLC-based control systems, HMIs, and associated automation equipment.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using ladder logic and other industry-standard methods.
• Design, update, and maintain HMI screens to improve operator functionality.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system components to minimize downtime.
• Maintain, calibrate, and test sensors, transmitters, actuators, motors, drives, and VFDs.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving analog and digital I/O and industrial networks.
• Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment and control systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to improve system performance.
• Assist with automation upgrades and system expansions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Document troubleshooting activities, program changes, and maintenance records.
