Job summary

Engineered Steel Products (ESP) in Sophia, NC is seeking a Painter/Paint Shop Helper to prepare materials and perform industrial painting duties. The role includes mixing paints, cleaning tools, and maintaining a clean, safe work area to meet quality standards.

Initially you’ll train on a 1st shift (6:00 AM–3:30 PM, Mon–Fri with frequent Saturday shifts) and then move to a 2nd shift (3:30 PM–1:00 AM). Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to follow instructions,

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Basic knowledge of painting materials and tools.
Previous experience in a paint shop preferred.
Basic understanding of color mixing and paint application techniques; ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas as directed.
Mix and match paint colors according to specifications and ensure proper storage of materials.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint shop, including cleaning brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
Support painters by handing tools and materials as needed to facilitate efficient work.
Inspect equipment regularly and report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
Dispose of paint waste and hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
