External SA Recycling in Phenix City, AL seeks an Operations & Maintenance Manager to lead our metal recycling facility, overseeing daily operations, maintenance, safety, and equipment reliability, reporting to the General Manager.

Requires 3–5+ years in heavy industrial management, a strong mechanical/engineering background, PLC proficiency, and hands-on experience with large motors, hydraulic systems, and conveyors. This role involves field work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with strong mechanical/industrial emphasis.
• Proven experience in heavy industrial management and safety.
• Experience with PLCs, motors, hydraulics, conveyors and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shredder operation and maintenance for safety and reliability.
• Lead recycling yard team and coordinate daily activities.
• Monitor critical system readings to prevent equipment damage.
• Inspect components daily to ensure readiness and uptime.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Respond to emergencies and enforce safety protocols.
• Adjust priorities as yard conditions change.
