Job summary

MasTec Industrial is seeking an experienced Welder to join our field teams in Abernathy, Texas. You will read project plans, interpret weld symbols, and perform GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW and related welds according to site specifications and national codes.

You will collaborate with pipe fitters and other trades, prepare surfaces, select fillers, and ensure quality and safety on a heavy industrial job site. Travel up to 90% is expected with a typical 50-hour week.

Qualifications

• 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, weld symbols, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
• Perform GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW and other mixed type of welds based on project needs.
• Field install welds, including, but not limited to: Structural; duct work, hoppers, bag house’s, attachment points for Electricians, Ironworkers, and Pipefitters.
• Select proper fillers for welding task based on welding procedure specifications.
• Prepare welding surfaces per welding procedure to achieve proper joint detail.
