Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a skilled millwright to dismantle, move, and install machinery across sites. You will read blueprints, interpret schematics, and ensure safe, efficient equipment installation and relocation.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience with industrial equipment, a millwright certificate, strong math skills, and the ability to work well in a team. Travel to regional sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of an accredited millwright certificate program.
• Proven experience with industrial and construction equipment repairs.
• Good communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Strong attention to detail and mathematics skills.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and reassemble equipment for repair or transportation.
• Build the foundation for machines.
• Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
• Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
• Grind and file machinery parts.
• Supervise construction workers when using the equipment.
• Work with a range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding and brazing equipment.
• Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use when moving equipment and completing jobs.
• Visit various construction sites.
• May travel to other sites within region to support business needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
