Job summary

Our client, a major industrial facility in Welkom, Free State, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their dedicated team. The role focuses on reliable operation and upkeep of mechanical equipment, routine maintenance, diagnosing failures, and implementing preventative programs to ensure operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent qualification required.
• Minimum of 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Lockout/tagout knowledge and safety regulations familiarity.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
• Overhaul, adjust, and replace worn or defective parts.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
