Job summary

Advance Auto Parts Inc. is seeking a Distribution Center Maintenance I Technician to perform general and preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, structures, and grounds.

The role involves hands-on repairs, electrical installations, and adherence to safety guidelines in a fast-paced distribution center. The ideal candidate will have basic mechanical skills, knowledge of conveyors and building systems, and the ability to read MSDS.

Qualifications

• Must possess or pass the Basic Mechanical and Industrial Mechanical Skill Assessment.
• Knowledge of conveyor systems, security controls, fire protection, building systems, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and other related equipment and structures.
• Basic understanding of hand, power and shop tools.
• Must be able to read and interpret MSDS.
• Ability to follow all safety rules and wear PPE when required.
• Ability to use computer maintenance management software to procure parts, generate and update work orders.
• General administrative, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs on equipment.
• Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, lights, outlets, circuit breakers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components under supervision.
• Complete minor and routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, cleaning equipment.
• Paint, plaster and perform building and grounds maintenance including plumbing and carpentry.
• Perform basic inspections, preventive maintenance and minor repairs to material handling batteries, changing equipment, and conveying systems.
• Assist skilled maintenance personnel in disassembling, assembling, installing and maintaining pipe systems and related hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
• Assist skilled maintenance personnel in repairs and replacements of gauges, valves, and related equipment.
• Assist in scheduled and preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, electrical systems and structures following blueprints and manuals.
• Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions of equipment and machinery.
• Ensure hazardous materials are stored properly in flammable storage cabinets.
