Job summary

Matheson Tri-Gas is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Performance Technician to sustain and improve plant performance. You will perform mechanical, instrument and electrical maintenance, while ensuring safety and compliance with FDA/OSHA standards.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting process upsets, maintaining equipment like compressors and pumps, interpreting drawings, and updating QA records. The role emphasizes reliability, data tracking and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Basic Computer skills required.
• On-call availability for plant needs including personnel, equipment and customer problems.
• Clean driving record.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and policies for Industrial Gas Industry.
• Strong understanding of Air Separation Principles.
• Strong understanding of compressors, pumps and expanders.
• Strong understanding of electrical motors, power distribution and safety.
• Ability to use I&E test equipment (DVM, megger, calibrator, transmitter simulator).
• Capability to troubleshoot on medium and low voltage PLCs and field instruments.

Responsibilities

• Manipulates air separation controls to meet product specifications and production requirements.
• Adjust plant control variables and monitor equipment to meet production goals.
• Understand plant water chemistry for cooling tower operations.
• Trouble shoot process upsets and take corrective actions.
• Maintain Electrical Worker certification.
• Maintain and service compressors, pumps, turbines, valves and related equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and process diagrams.
• Develop understanding of Process & Instrument Drawings for operations and troubleshooting.
• Update and maintain work instructions and QA records.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and calibrate analytical test equipment.
• Participate in safety meetings and maintain safe work areas.
• Prepare production operation and distribution records for FDA/OSHA/ISO compliance.
• Prepare QA documents and transfer data from process databases for reports.
• Communicate effectively across departments and with vendors.
• Review and release FDA-regulated medical grade product where applicable.
• Troubleshoot plant issues and alarms with local team for resolution.
• Assist with safe start/stop of plants per operating conditions and business needs.
• Aim to optimize plant performance and reduce costs.
