Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Kansas City operations. This role supports production and facility maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and safe, efficient performance on a fast-paced railroad manufacturing floor.

You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machines and facilities, with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Strong problem solving and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED or 2+ years of related maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of repair techniques and basic construction principles for facility and equipment maintenance.
• Skilled in using hand tools and operating light and heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair production machines and facility equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond to emergency repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance during downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and replace/repair parts as needed.
• Perform basic construction and fabrication tasks for facility upkeep and equipment installation.
• Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and work orders to execute tasks accurately.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely.
• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to supervisors.
