Job summary

Sterling Steel Company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support our 12-hour shift operations. You will repair, service, and maintain mechanical equipment, read blueprints, and follow safety procedures to keep production running at peak efficiency.

We value experience in heavy manufacturing, strong teamwork, and the ability to work independently. Base pay starts at $15.97 per hour with incentive pay potential based on production results and safety performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years maintenance mechanic related experience; preferably in similar heavy manufacturing setting
• Ability to effectively read, write, understand, and otherwise communicate in English is required for this position
• Working knowledge of welding and cutting various metals
• Familiar with uses and application of all types of fits such as press fits and running fits.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Knowledge of Crane signals
• Knowledge of and proficient at using alignment and inspection tools
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work effectively alone or with other employees, with or without direct supervision

Responsibilities

• Inspect mechanical equipment for operating conditions and determine need for maintenance or repair.
• Dismantle, repair, and assemble mechanical equipment such as gears, bearings, shafts, cables, belts, etc.
• Calibrate or operate diagnostic instruments to collect/analyze/interpret equipment operational data
• Develop and perform equipment inspection routes; collect and document findings
• Perform equipment failure analysis and recommend corrective actions
• Read and interpret assembly drawings when necessary
• Plan work on the job alone and with other mechanics
• Communicate with Supervisors and production staff
• Maintain daily activity logs and repair records
• Adhere to all SSC Safety rules; including Lock Out/Tag compliance
