Job summary

Saint-Gobain NorPro is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to inspect, analyze, repair, replace, install, and maintain plant electrical and electronic equipment. The role emphasizes control components, preventive maintenance, and adherence to NEC and local codes.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyman Electrician status or equivalent certification, and at least five years of external experience with on-the-job training within Saint-Gobain NorPro.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician status or equivalent certification is required.
• Five years of verified external experience plus on-the-job training at Saint-Gobain NorPro is preferred.
• Knowledge of safe work practices, incident reporting/investigation, and shop-floor compliance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, analyze, repair, replace, install, and maintain plant electrical and electronic equipment and control components.
• Repair production and plant equipment and related systems, especially electrical/electronic malfunctions.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs or modifications per NEC and local codes.
• Maintain records, complete PMs, and enter work orders in CMMS.
• Collaborate with engineering, technical, and production supervisors; coordinate with outside contractors when needed.

Job description

To inspect, analyze, repair, replace, install, and maintain plant electrical and electronic equipment including all control components. Also, to perform any general plant maintenance as required.

• Repair production equipment, plant equipment, and related systems, particularly when concerned with electrical /electronic malfunctions.
• Analyzes malfunctioning machines and systems (electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, etc.), recommends corrective action, and makes electrical, mechanical, or other type repairs or modifications.
• Maintains a working understanding of plant production processes, equipment, systems, and facilities, in order to perform maintenance effectively.
• Works in cooperation with engineering, technical, and production supervisors, or outside contractor personnel when directed.
• Use past practices, basic data tables, vendor literature, and technical references to determine electrical equipment materials, sizes, and other working data for approval by the supervisor or project engineer.
• Maintains written records of work performed
• Completes PM’s in timely manner and records all necessary information
• Has ability to work independently and effectively in a self-directed environment
• Effectively communicates issues, opportunities, spare parts, and other maintenance needs
• Analyzes and repairs specialized equipment which is dependent on electronic controls, electromechanical mechanisms, and related components, under general direction.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and makes repairs correctly, safely and according to National Electrical Code and any local codes.
• Assists in the calibration of electrical components.
• Repairs and replaces defective components, bends and installs conduit and pulls wiring for electrical equipment, and performs preventive maintenance.
• Provides draft schematic diagrams for any "field changes" made to plant equipment.
• Maintains electrical testing and calibrating equipment in good working order.
• Follows all plant and OSHA safety regulations, including an excellent knowledge of lockout /tagout procedures.
• Enters and closes work orders in the CMMS system.
• Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
• Performs any general maintenance duties as necessary and determined by supervisor.
