Job summary

Saint-Gobain through its CertainTeed division seeks a Manufacturing Operator to operate and monitor forming equipment in a 12.5-hour rotating day/night schedule at an on-site facility in Semora, NC. You will help maintain product quality, troubleshoot processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, with strong communication and basic computer skills.

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing or production experience required.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, quality inspections, and process controls preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor forming equipment in a continuous manufacturing environment to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Maintain product quality through equipment monitoring, process checks, inspections, and adherence to production specifications.
  • Utilize HMI controls to operate, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment and process settings.
  • Follow all safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
  • Support equipment changeovers, maintenance activities, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate production, quality, and process concerns effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Operate Mixer, Knife, and related production equipment to support safe startup, shutdown, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor product quality and equipment performance; make process adjustments to maintain product specifications and operating standards.
  • Perform quality testing, calibration checks, production reporting, and data entry within required systems.
  • Assist with product changeovers and collaborate with production teams to ensure product quality and process efficiency.
  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and support equipment reliability through autonomous maintenance and downtime activities.
  • Participate in housekeeping, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance safety and operational performance.
  • Promote a professional, team-oriented work environment and perform additional duties as needed to support production goals.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing or production experience required.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, quality inspections, and process controls preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and basic computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety programs, Lean Manufacturing, and autonomous maintenance practices is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • On-site manufacturing position working 12.5-hour rotating day and night shifts.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and wet conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the plant floor.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the visual acuity necessary to perform inspections and monitor production processes.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hearing, eye, foot, and head protection.
  • Regular exposure to industrial equipment and manufacturing machinery.
