Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, setup, and troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, drive components, and electrical equipment across a busy production plant in the United States. The role includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, and operating and repairing HVAC and process systems.
The candidate will work a rotating schedule with mandatory overtime and must maintain safety, quality, and timely communication with production teams.
The Maintenance Technician is accountable for installing, setup and troubleshooting mechanical assemblies drive components, and electrical equipment. The successful candidate will perform electrical testing and troubleshooting utilizing schematics and experience. Maintain and repair industrial control systems and production equipment, e.g., PLCs, HMIs, hydraulic motors, hoses, pumps and valves, material handling equipment, bulk chemical systems, batch mixing, and packaging equipment.In addition, the Mechanical and Electrical Technician is also responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the facilities equipment such as HVAC systems, compressors, pumps, motors, pollution control equipment, life safety, electrical power distribution, network, hoists, docks, and automated doors.This position is regularly scheduled for 36 and 48 hours per week, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. The fixed schedule 6AM - 6PM, but may transfer from 6PM to 6AM with reasonable notice. This position also requires mandatory overtime to cover vacations during off shifts to support the plant.
Support a safe working environment in all areas of responsibility at all timesImmediately, correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolutionPerform electrical and mechanical preventative and predictive maintenance to maintain optimal equipment and overall plant operationTroubleshoot and repair down or malfunctioning facilities and production equipmentSets-up and operates a variety of shop equipment (hand and stationary) to complete routine maintenance tasks, break/fix response, building improvements, and continuous improvementProvide professional, accurate, and responsive communication on status and coordinate the equipment work and repairs with plant production and customer needsMaintain the integrity of the Work Order/Preventative Maintenance system by completing timely input and updating the system on assignments, status, action taken, and timesheet informationEducationHigh School diploma or GEDA minimum of two (2) years of industrial maintenance experience or an Associate’s degree or equivalent in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or HVAC from a two-year college or technical school requiredExperience in equipment lubricationExperienceExperience with mechanical drive componentsExperience testing AC/DC electrical systems including single-phase and three-phase up to 1000 VExperience with motors, VFDs, motor control systems, motor starters, high current fuses, PLCs, and HMI’sExperience with pumps and fansAbility to fabricate custom assemblies used on production and facilities equipmentExperience with pneumatic controlsExperience with hydraulic controls, hydraulic motors, hoses, pumps, valves and piping systemsHas working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, electrical, controls, plumbing, lighting, docks, overhead/sliding doors, and life safetyExperience and proficiency in using electrical test equipment
