Job summary

Caterpillar (LL) is seeking a Maintenance Technician I in East Peoria, IL. This role involves hands-on maintenance, repairs, and preventive tasks on mechanical and electrical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will work alongside experienced technicians, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and component replacements while growing practical skills and contributing to safe, reliable operation of production equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing, or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and facility equipment.
• Complete inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic repairs.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and machinery issues.
• Replace components such as belts, filters, fuses, and other wear items.
• Support equipment installations and maintenance projects.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and complete assigned work orders.
• Document maintenance activities using the maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist senior technicians during equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while working around equipment and machinery.
