Job summary
UPS is hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics with electrical experience to maintain a UPS package handling facility in Sylmar, CA. The role supports 24x7 operations on 1st-3rd shifts, with a strong electrical background and preventive maintenance duties across conveyors, drives, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
Candidate will perform troubleshooting, repairs, and welding as required, with safety and teamwork emphasized in a fast-paced environment at a Fortune 500 company.
Qualifications
- US citizen or national, or eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must pass electrical assessment as part of role.
- Shifts: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a 24x7 operation.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC/DC electrical equipment (batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, VFDs, encoders)
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace motors, conveyors, bearings, and drive components
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair pneumatic equipment (diverters, lubricators, hoses) and hydraulic equipment (hoses, fittings, cylinders)
- Weld equipment like handrails and conveyor supports as required
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on conveyors, bulk carts, and power equipment
- Maintain safe, efficient operation within a fast-paced hub environment
