Job summary

Sonoco in Forest City, NC is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician. The role centers on proactive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and automation systems, and leading maintenance planning as needed. You will work with PLCs, drives, welding, and shop fabrication to support asset reliability.

Minimum education: high school diploma; preferred an associate degree in mechatronics or industrial maintenance. Experience ranges 4+ to 10+ years by level.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with technical/mechanical focus.
• Strong safety mindset and compliance with NFPA 70E guidelines.
• Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Experience with PLC logic and troubleshooting in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain, repair, and improve mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems as required.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify/write as needed and document activity in CMMS.
• Lead or assist in maintenance planning and priority setting for reliability.
• Drive preventive/predictive maintenance and root-cause analysis to reduce failures.
• Collaborate with operations to resolve abnormal equipment conditions and mentor operators.
