Job summary

Corning Inc. in Wilmington, NC, is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic to perform a wide range of mechanical maintenance tasks including installation, fabrication, assembly and setup. You will diagnose and service plant equipment and work from blueprints and instructions.

The role requires 2-year mechanical degree or 8,000 hours, rotating shifts, and the ability to pass a Fit for Duty exam. Starting pay is $36.92 per hour, with union-based benefits under the applicable collective bargaining

Qualifications

• Must have 2-year Mechanical Associate Degree and 8,000 hours on the job, or >4 years experience.
• Willing to work rotating shift schedule.
• Pass a "Fit for Duty" exam designed for the Mechanic Job Description.

Responsibilities

• Preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Read blueprints and follow instructions using hand tools.
• Operate equipment such as saws, benders, breaks, pipe threaders, drills, gauges, micrometers, forklifts, hand trucks, etc.
• Remove and reinstall equipment; bearing replacements; pipe work.
• Provide cross training for other skilled trades.
• Assist with work orders, material purchasing, project coordination, and estimates.
