Scope of the Position

The position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is a non-exempt hourly role. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as presses, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs and construction involving wood, cinder block, and I-beam structures; hydraulic and mechanical presses; and facility and sanitary systems maintenance.
• Troubleshoot all specialty fabrication machines.
• Weld, with at least one year of stick welding preferred.
• Operate all maintenance machinery as required.
• Read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation to identify issues by listening to their sounds.
• Set up dies in plant presses and perform die maintenance.
• Dismantle devices to access and replace defective parts.
• Inspect parts for imperfections and dimensional changes.
• Adjust device components and control instruments.
• Install functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts regularly.
• Test device performance after repairs.
• Use metalworking tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to make or repair parts.
• Manage proper collection and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Understand and adhere to Quality Polish (TS16949) and Environmental Standards (ISO 14001).
• Follow department work instructions and keep work area organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical Demands:

• Lift a minimum of 65 lbs.
• Climb ladders and work in awkward positions during repairs.
• Push, pull, and lift equipment/tools up to 25 lbs frequently.
• Perform frequent reaching, gripping, manipulation, and standing.
• Occasionally bend, squat, and climb.
• Wear protective gear including Kevlar or rubber gloves, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, weld gloves, apron, and shield.
• Have good visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception for safety and maintenance tasks.
• Work in noisy environments with variable temperatures, hot in winter, without air conditioning in summer.

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
• Pass the Ramsey Mechanical Comprehension Test.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Communicate effectively in English.
