Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Rochelle, IL, reporting to the supervisor. The role focuses on safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment to maximize quality, uptime, rate, and yield.

Strong electrical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical issues are essential. The job requires reading blueprints, performing PM and breakdown repairs, and supporting safety programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; apprenticeship or journeyman training preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, and reading technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; familiarity with PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance on equipment following safety procedures (LOTO).
• Ensure guards and safety equipment are in place before returning equipment to operators.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with parts orders and receipts.
• Use CMMS to track, inspect, and report equipment status; read schematics and blueprints to diagnose issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and quality issues; perform breakdown and preventive maintenance.
• Operate and maintain cranes and lifting equipment as required.
• Promote safety and compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
