Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Rochelle, IL to ensure safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment. You will maximize uptime, rate, and yield with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in a safety-focused environment.

The role requires at least 5 years in a heavy manufacturing setting, proficiency with PLCs and electrical systems, and solid reading of schematics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment in a maintenance role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; apprenticeship or journeyman training preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs.
• Effective English communication; able to perform basic math.
• Ability to pass job-related testing, an employment physical, and a drug screening.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance on equipment following all safety procedures, including LOTO.
• Ensure guards and safety equipment are in place before returning equipment to operators.
• Monitor parts and supplies, place orders, and verify receipts.
• Utilize maintenance systems to track and report equipment status.
• Read blueprints, manuals, and schematics to diagnose and repair.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and quality issues and escalate as needed.
• Perform breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeovers on production equipment.
• Identify and report safety or quality issues when unable to fix them.
