Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment. The role emphasizes electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, adherence to LOTO, and safe operation of cranes and tooling.

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years in heavy manufacturing, a high school diploma or equivalent, and proficiency with tools, drawings, and PLCs. The position focuses on uptime, quality, and safety in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment in a maintenance role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs.
• Good communication skills in English; basic math calculations.
• Ability to pass job-related testing, employment physical, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance on equipment, following all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Ensure guards and safety equipment are in place and functional before returning equipment to operators.
• Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies; place orders and verify receipts.
• Use manual and computerized maintenance management systems to track and report equipment status.
• Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and quality issues; escalate when needed.
• Perform breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeover tasks on production equipment.
• Identify and report safety, quality, or output issues when unable to correct them independently.
• Observe machines in operation using precision instruments to diagnose problems.
• Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools; maintain a clean, safe work environment.
