Job summary

Corning Inc. in the United States is seeking an IT Controls Engineer to design, implement, and improve manufacturing control systems across multiple facilities.

You will work with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and IT to ensure reliable connectivity between plant-floor equipment and enterprise systems. The role supports PLCs, HMI/SCADA, historians, industrial networks, and data platforms, enabling data collection for reporting, analytics, AI, and continuous improvement that

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in manufacturing systems or OT environments.
• Experience integrating equipment with enterprise systems.
• Experience supporting high-availability manufacturing operations.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• SCADA/HMI systems experience.
• OSI PI Historian and PI Vision experience.
• Industrial networking and protocols (OPC, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP).
• SQL databases and data querying.
• OT cybersecurity fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks.
• Integrate manufacturing equipment with enterprise systems and MES.
• Configure data acquisition tools like OSI PI and PI Vision.
• Enable collection and reporting of production and quality data.
• Support OT cybersecurity and disaster recovery efforts.
• Collaborate with infrastructure on plant-floor networking and OT security.
• Assist in line deployments, modernization and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain system diagrams and support procedures.
• Provide technical on-call support for manufacturing incidents.
