Job summary

Corning Inc. in Canton, NY, is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to design, modify, and support PLC-based controls for manufacturing tools and test benches.

You will develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and documentation, while coordinating with external partners to ensure timely delivery. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with controls aptitude, 0–3 years of experience, and skills in PLCs, ladder logic, and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with controls aptitude.
• 0–3 years manufacturing experience.
• Ability to debug PLC code (ladder logic).
• Strong understanding of ANSI NFPA NEC electrical codes.
• Working knowledge of Excel/Access/SQL/Power BI for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and support PLC-based control systems for manufacturing tools and test benches.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Implement controls solutions for motion systems, lasers, vision systems, and processing equipment.
• Serve as primary technical resource for Canton controls-related equipment; troubleshoot downtime.
• Support new equipment installation, upgrades, and replication of legacy control systems.
• Coordinate with external partners to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery meeting criteria.
• Develop and maintain PLC and HMI code; implement recipes, interlocks, alarms, and data logging.
• Design machine safety/interlock circuits and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers and operations staff; communicate progress and risks.
