Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking an experienced Ironworker Journeyman to perform layout, installation, assembly and steel erection per blueprints and industry standards. You will read plans, fabricate components, hoist, align, weld, bolt and rig heavy steel structures on site.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Ironworker Journeyman in a Power Plant/Industrial setting.
• Strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with supervision.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, and layout tools as well as measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Fabricate metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Position prefabricated steel units; hoist and place beams and columns using cranes.
• Verify alignment of structural steel with plumb bobs, lasers, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces with shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Secure structural members with turnbuckles, jacks, or hand tools for final placement.
• Bolts and rivets structural members for permanent assembly.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, and required time/costs for activities.
• Inspect workers' output for compliance with plans and specifications.
