Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking an Insulator to apply, remove, and repair insulation on exposed surfaces such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings to help control temperature and reduce noise.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring and cutting insulation, fitting and sealing material, and following safety procedures. NCCER, a valid TWIC card, and a driver’s license are required; 4 years of insulation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• No minimum education requirements.
• 4 years of insulation experience preferred.
• NCCER certification, TWIC card, and a valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and selects required insulation material.
• Work at heights with no fear.
• Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive application to insulation material.
• Determine the amounts and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll) based on heat retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation material to size and shape using handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach insulation material around structures following blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with covers, tape, or sealant to secure insulation.
• Other duties as assigned.
