Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller's BW Design Group seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to develop PLC/SCADA/DCS designs for industrial facilities. You will mentor designers, lead multi-disciplinary projects, and provide on-site support through commissioning and start-up.

Responsibilities include creating instrument specs, loop sheets, and I/O lists, plus collaborating with engineers across offices to meet client deadlines and safety standards in manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in control systems documentation and engineering design for industrial systems.
• Strong experience designing in Revit.
• Experience with food & beverage, life sciences, or technology facilities emphasizing quality and safety.
• Understanding of area classification and cross-team coordination.
• Ability to travel for project requirements, including site visits and start-up activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrument specifications and PLC, SCADA, and DCS-based control system designs for industrial facilities.
• Design instrumentation and control systems for industrial, manufacturing, and utilities projects.
• Create specifications and calculations for flow meters, analyzers, transmitters, and field instruments.
• Perform control system studies and troubleshoot existing systems to support client operations.
• Develop conceptual designs and retrofit solutions for new and existing control systems.
• Prepare detailed instrument specifications, loop sheets, I/O lists, and instrumentation plans.
• Lead instrumentation and controls engineering and design on multidisciplinary projects.
• Provide field support, including on-site design, commissioning, and construction management.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines and offices to meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Train and mentor junior instrumentation and controls designers.
